Shaker Village is one of those places that never gets old. The historic buildings, the winding paths, the white picket fences, the animals. The quiet charm tucked into every corner — it’s the kind of location that makes you want to slow down and wander a little longer.
This engagement session was extra special for me, though. I’ve known Austin for several years, and I work with both him and Sheridan at Toyota. So when they asked me to photograph this season of their lives, it felt a little like watching your own kids grow up. You see someone day-to-day, and then suddenly they’re planning a wedding and starting a whole new chapter! It’s such a sweet thing to witness!
We made a last-minute decision to start an hour earlier than planned — and thank goodness we did. The rain rolled in toward the end of our session. But honestly? It just added to the adventure.
I even got to break out my clear umbrella for the very first time. Photographer milestone unlocked!
Austin and Sheridan are the kind of couple that makes this job easy. Hardworking, kind, and completely comfortable with each other. They laughed through the wandering, embraced the little sprinkles at the end, and made Shaker Village feel like it was ours for the afternoon.
Austin and Sheridan, I’m so thankful I get to be part of your story. Rain, history, umbrellas and all.
